I'm Dr. Harish Chandra, the Librarian of Central Library, IIT Madras India, warmly welcome you for browsing my personal website. Let me say few words about my work experience, institutions served and professional service. Presently I am serving as the Standing Committee Member of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) for the term 2009-2013 ( Reference and Information Services Section) prior to IIT Madras, I have also worked at IIT Delhi, Geological Survey of India (Western Region) Jaipur, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. Currently, I am responsible for overall administration, management, personnel matters, general leadership, planning, budgeting, technical services and development of network based library and information resources & services of ISO 9001:2000 certified major research library of India. It has a total stock of over 4.5 Lakhs vols. which is ever increasing. The Central Library caters to the needs of over 6000 faculty, students, staff, corporate, industries and alumni members. The entire activities of the Central Library are managed with the support of 60 staff, Rs.9 Crore annual budget, specialized collections, facilities, value added services, latest technologies including RFID, Wireless Networking, Smart cards, Media Resource Center, digital knowledge center, contactless smard card enabled access control, Z39,50 enabled Web OPAC.
